Honesty Is The Best Policy

Today we are going to talk about something very serious. Telling the truth. Do you know why a lot of people have a negative perception of any Home-Based Business? It's because they were brought in by people telling them they could make huge money right away. They were told there was really nothing to it; that it would require no significant effort, and no major time investment.

Wrong!

The truth is this. My Power Mall will take work. Those who achieve high incomes will apply themselves diligently to succeed. My Power Mall is a home-based business where rewards are commensurate with effort. You certainly won’t face the failure possibility you face with most other companies, but you will have to work!

It is important to let people know the potential of My Power Mall. You can share figures with them so they know just what their efforts can produce. The Flash Presentation does this for you. But can you guarantee they will make that kind of money? No. You can show them what they can make but only their effort and work will determine what they WILL make. Be sure to make that clear to them. Do not make this seem like an easy thing. It’s not. It will be easier than anything you have done before and it is incredibly SIMPLE, but it still requires effort.

Many companies will tell you to “Fake it till you make it.” They’re telling you to make yourself seem like you are a success before you are. Let me blunt – that’s lying. And it won’t help anyone; including you. It’s terrible to walk around with the pressure of what your team and other people will think if they find out you’re not wildly successful yet, that you’re still working another job, or that you’re struggling financially. For what?!

There’s nothing wrong with saying, “I just got started, too. We’ll be in this thing together. Let's watch the Flash Presentation again so we’re reminded of the potential.”

There’s nothing wrong with saying, “Yes, I had a really tough day today – 2 people told me no. But that’s okay because they can’t keep me down. I’m determined to do whatever it takes to succeed.” Then go do it!

The people you are working with will appreciate you so much because they don’t have to carry the burden of being fake either! You can learn, grow and succeed together!

It is true that absolutely anyone can succeed in MY POWER MALL. There is nothing that would exclude you from being able to achieve financial freedom – nothing but a lack of effort on your part. The sky is the limit if you want it bad enough.

Anyone can succeed, but it is important to paint a realistic picture. First for yourself – then for the people you bring in. Understating the hard work and perseverance to achieve great success is the most often utilized strategy by those who create false expectations. Most people will quickly see through the false promises in a very short time and then quit. Too often, people drop out because they weren’t told the truth in the first place. How sad.

While My Power Mall is not a get-rich quick scheme, it is definitely a business where people can achieve all their goals if they will discipline themselves in a consistent way and learn the simple skills necessary to succeed. It is your job to communicate that clearly.

Most people want to be able to quit their jobs and let their My Power Mall business take care of them. Great! But what is it really going to take? Very few people can come into My Power Mall full time right at the beginning. They are going to have to continue to work their regular job, working hard until their My Power Mall income replaces their current income. Make sure they know that. Give them the truth.

“You know, ___________, the truth is it’s only those who treat it like a profession who get to the big money. Give it all your energy and you’ll naturally get there sooner. Undertake it part-time, and stay with it steadily, and you’ll get there eventually. But there is no way for you to earn big money by exerting only minimal effort. You have two choices. If it is possible for you to work full time by tightening your belt and living off money you have now, great! Go for it full time. Your other option (which is the one most people will have to take) is to work very aggressively part time until you’ve replaced your income and then go full-time. Whatever way you decide to do it is great! I’ll help you any way I can.”

Let people make their decision from a place of reality. It will assure you don’t have an angry, dissatisfied team member further down the road.

Don’t tell people they only need to talk to a few people to make huge money. What if all those people say no? What if they have to talk to lots of people before someone says yes? What if they drop out because you gave them the wrong impression – before they find the people that say yes, the ones who will build their business for them?

Shoot straight. “You’re going to have to contact a lot of people. You’re going to have to move out of your comfort zone. You are going to have to deal with people saying no. But I’ll be there with you. I’ll be there for you. And if you hang with it you’ll build a business that will give you the freedom you need.”

You’ve told them the truth. You also told them to hang in there – that it would be worth it. They believe you and hang in there. Now you both win!

Decide at the beginning to be honest. It will benefit you. It will benefit those you bring on. Make your own commitments to success. Help those you bring on to make their commitments – then be there with them every step of the way!!

Shopping Tip: Use the Directory Search feature to locate stores by category. When you click on one of the categories, it will slide down to show more sub-categories. Business Building Tip: Invite 4 or 5 friends or family members over for coffee or tea to learn about a new way to earn cash. Introduce My Power Mall by having them watch the video on your computer (or purchase a My Power Mall Presentation CD on the My Power Mall Market Place - link is in your back office). Mention how convenient this is for busy people and college students who love to shop online and need extra income. High school students can have their own mall, too, to help raise money for college (or whatever) and they can promote their malls on their MySpace and MyFace pages. (Nancy DePietro, New York). Have your laptop and an Internet connection available so people can sign up right then and there. Have light refreshments and provide a free gift (like an My Power Mall magnet -- or mug, etc.). Be sure to have information (flyers, Invitation Cards, etc.) for people to take home if they aren't ready to sign-up. Change the World Tip: Invite your employees who play instruments to bring them to work and "jam" during lunch. Or set aside an hour or two every Friday afternoon for a "jam session."
