Conquering The Big "D"

We’ve already talked about how important it is to have a great attitude in this business! It will either make you or break you. So what happens when you get depressed? Depressed? Surely we’re not serious. Yep. We are. If you are a human being, with human emotions and feelings, there are times in this business when you are going to get depressed; when you are going to wonder if you’re out of your mind for trying to build a MY POWER MALL business; when you are quite sure you can’t take one more person saying no, or not taking you seriously. You get depressed. You’re ready to throw in the towel.

Let's be honest. Is everyone experiencing wild success with My Power Mall? Is everyone bringing on lots of new members? No. Surprised I'm willing to be honest? Don't be. One of the things I hate about other Business Opportunities is that honesty is frowned upon. They tell you to "Fake it Till You Make It". They tell you to communicate that you're doing great even if you're not. I think that attitude is both ridiculous and wrong.

I hear from people who say they are trying this or that; advertising in Free places online; etc. but they haven't gotten anyone to join them.

The danger of an Internet business is that sometimes you forget how to talk to real people. Let's be real. As My Power Mall grows the number of people vying for free classifieds, banner spots, etc. is only going to increase. At some point (whether at 14,000 members or 250,000 members) things might become saturated. Only very savvy Internet Marketers will be able to make much of a splash on the Internet. What does that mean for the rest of you?

It means that you are surrounded by people every day who need what you have to offer. Use the Internet but don't forget to be HUMAN! Talk to people. Carry Invitation Cards. Get people's email addresses and then send them an E-card. Your training letters carry a multitude of ideas that will open the doors for you. You might fail if you focus on one to exclusion - I promise you cannot fail if you employ them all! Don't let depression derail your success!

Here’s the first thing you need to know – EVERYONE feels that way at some point in time. It’s just a reality of being a human being trying to do something that is challenging. No matter how hard we work at adopting the Law of Attraction, we’re going to have a few days where we don’t do very well. Here’s the problem. If you just work at McDonalds you can still flip hamburgers even if you’re depressed. I mean, no one cares if you’re cheerful – they just want you to cook a good hamburger for them. But success in My Power Mall depends on one factor perhaps more than any other – a positive, uplifting personality and demonstrable enthusiasm and exuberance. So what do you do if your enthusiasm resembles the final dregs in your coffee cup?

Let’s take an honest look at this thing. Maybe you are trying to give away Power Malls and receiving a series of rejections. Or you are sending E-cards and emails but not having anyone respond. If they are strangers, that’s one thing. But maybe they are your friends and family. That’s even harder to take! Or maybe you’ve signed some people up and they are still perched on the fence post like a sitting duck, instead of out there building their business the way you are. You know what? It’s inevitable. All of that is going to happen at some point in your business. Accept it. It makes it a lot easier when it happens. There is nothing wrong with you. There is nothing wrong with My Power Mall. You are no different from a waitress offering coffee in a coffee shop. Some people just don’t care for any. You are merely sifting for those for whom the time is right. You don’t get depressed because all these things are happening. You get depressed if you choose to dwell on these factors and take them personally.

So what should you do first? Call someone who is also building a My Power Mall business! Anytime you are grappling with concern, fear, or depression please give someone a call! We have been all the places you are going to be. We have felt all the things you are going to feel. We have fought depression and wanting to quit. Talk to us!

Now, we're talking about depression because it is a reality – but the bigger reality is that you are going to have so much FUN working your business. You are going to achieve financial freedom and build incredible relationships with people in your organization all over the country!

Do you want to know the best way to deal with Business Building Depression? ACTIVITY! Yes, we know you may not feel like it at the time. That’s the time to decide to do it anyway!! You are a very capable adult who has committed to building a business. That means sometimes you push beyond your feelings and do things anyway! Let us show you how it works. You’re feeling a little depressed, so you only talk to a couple people this week. Both of them say no. Ouch! Now you’re even more depressed! But what if you decide to talk to at least 20 people this week, or send out 50 E-cards? 60 of the 70 blow you off (I don’t think the # will ever be that high!), but 10 become My Power Mall Members. Now – are you caring much about the 60 who blew you off? NO! You’re too excited about your 10 brand new business partners. ACTIVITY HAS CURED YOUR DEPRESSION!

Depression can’t withstand persistence. Depression will fall to consistent activity. Depression will bow its knee to the determination to NEVER QUIT!!

When you start to feel depressed….

Vow to increase your activity, then DO IT!

Call someone and share your struggles with them.

Find the greatest motivational book or tape you can and immerse yourself in it.

Call other people in My Power Mall who are achieving success and talk to them.

Business Building Tip: Go through all the business cards you've collected over the years and call, write or email them. (Julia Luton, Kansas) Entrepreneurs are usually open to additional streams of income!

Change the World Tip: Surprise your Volunteer of the Week/Month and go public with lawn signs. Either choose something outrageous (like pink flamingoes) or have a generic lawn sign made for the awardees. Either way, let their neighbors see how much you appreciate your volunteer. Be sure the signs are designed so it's obvious why they've appeared on their neighbor's lawn. Leave a note of thanks and appreciation on their doorstep from your organization.
